Castle Gift Bag

Bag Pattern

Lid Pattern

Print the bag pattern twice and lid pattern once. I did not use card stock for this. It is printed on standard printer paper and then laminated it for strength. But wait to laminate it after you have it stamped. I used my Xyron, if you do not have a Xyron just use clear contact paper…back to the directions. Cut the solid lines and score all the dotted lines. Stamp on the side with no lines. On one of the gift bag sides, stamp the door (from stamp kit #2023 "Door & Window" found in the "Architecture, Buildings & Places" section of the online catalog)in the center of the front of the bag. then stamp Window from the same stamp kit just above the pleat on the side section. Make a mask of the door and the window. Use a removable glue stick on the back of your masks to hold them in place. Using stamp #2025 Brick, stamp in rows across both bag sections and the lid. Don't worry about getting them totally straight, real stone is never totally straight. If you look close mine is not. There are even gaps in the rows but the next step will camouflage it. Lightly stipple gray ink here and there to fill in the gaps and give the stone an uneven color. Remove the masks and color in the door and laminate all pieces. Cut out the window and the bottom, top and the side with the doorknob, leaving the hinged side uncut. Glue a square of yellow acetate or velum to the inside of the bag over the window. Stamp the image you wish to have inside the door. I used "#4042 Garrett" from the "In Person" category of my catalog. Color and cut out your image and laminate it on both sides. You image will be suspended between the clear laminate. Glue this to the inside of the bag over the door section. Now when you fold the door open your image will show. Glue the two bag sections together and punch the holes for the handles. Cut all the solid lines on the lid so that the tabs on the top of the castle will pop up when its folded into shape. Cut the holes for the handle. I did not have a long reach punch so I used an awl. Fold the lid into shape and glue the sides into place to form the lid. Pull cording threw one of the holes in the bag and then threw the hole on the lid that matches up the it. pull the cord back threw the hole on the same side of the lid leaving slack in the cord to form the handle. Then pull it back threw the other hole on the bag and tie another knot on the inside of the bag. Do the same thing on the opposite side of the bag to form the other handle. Now your lid will slide up and down the handles so the present inside is hidden.
